We all know that staying hydrated is key in a healthy weight-loss plan, but drinking plain water can get boring.  The best way to add some variation to your water is to infuse it with fruits, veggies, and herbs.  Infused water can be made in pitchers, mason jars, or handy infused water bottles.  To get you started, we have provided a quick guide for your reference.

Fruit Infusion Options

You can infuse water with fruit overnight in the refrigerator or about one or two hours at room temperature.  Citrus fruits tend to keep better than fruit options, such as melon.  While you can use frozen fruit to infuse water, fresh is best.  Consider using any of these fruits to add flavor to your water: 


• Oranges
• Strawberries
• Blueberries
• Lemons
• Limes
• Kiwi
• Raspberries
• Grapes
• Grapefruit
• Melons
• Pineapple
• Mango

Veggie Infusion Options

Before adding fresh vegetables to your water, be sure to soak them first.  Soak veggies in one part vinegar and three parts water, but be sure not to over soak.  You do not want to lose the nutrients found in the vegetables due to over soaking.  Cutting vegetables into smaller pieces before soaking should be avoided, too.  The veggies listed below are good ones to start with when trying to add more nutrients to your water:
• Carrots 
• Spinach 
• Cucumbers
• Asparagus 
• Kale
• Celery
• Arugula 
• Fennel 
• Peppers

Herb (and a few Spices) Infusion Options

Adding herbs to your infused water combos will really help mix things up, but they can also be used alone.  Some herbs will last longer in infused water than others.  For example, mint will last fewer days than rosemary. 
• Basil
• Rosemary
• Mint

Lavender
• Rosemary
• Thyme
• Cilantro
• Ginger 
• Cinnamon
