Am I a typical patient?
We have worked with men and women seeking to lose anywhere between ten pounds and over one hundred pounds. Some of our patients come to us to improve or avoid health conditions such as diabetes. Some have struggled with weight their entire lives; others come to us after major life changes, such as career transitions, childbirth or menopause. Everyone wants to lose weight safely and with confidence.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Our clients average a loss of two to five pounds each week. The results may vary depending on gender, age, starting weight and body composition. For example, men may average closer to 4-5 lbs per week, compared to women who may average 2-3 lbs per week.
Will I be eating real food?
Although meal replacements can help you lose weight, we believe that in order to sustain your weight loss, its imperative you feel comfortable navigating real-world eating situations. Learning how to put a meal together or making healthful choices at a restaurant can be challenges for some individuals. We provide you with sample menus, shopping lists, and other tools, as well as share helpful tips so you handle and feel comfortable in all situations. Please see our recipes.
How can I succeed when I’ve already tried every diet out there?
Obesity is influenced by many factors- lifestyle, stress, sleep and more. Effective weight loss therefore requires a multidimensional approach. Our method for weight loss acknowledges your past experiences and current lifestyle, your motivators and challenges, along with your unique medical conditions, and integrates this information into a customized plan designed specifically for you. Through weekly education and coaching sessions, we provide the ongoing personal support that you need to stay accountable and to create a behavioral lifestyle change that lasts. Read our many testimonials that rave about our life-changing program.
How does exercise fit into your program?
Exercise is important for relieving stress and regular exercise increases your metabolism over time, we recommend moderate exercise once you have settled into the program. If you are completely sedentary when starting the program, exercise can be introduced gradually. Over time, we will increase the amount of exercise. Establishing regular exercise routine is critical for successful long-term maintenance.
Who will I meet with each week?
Your team of health educators and medical experts are here to support you each week. Your medical expert may be a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant who has with a deep understanding of obesity medicine. Your trained health educator may have an expertise in wellness, nutrition, psychology, personal training, and/or mindfulness, and many of them have struggled with weight themselves.
During the first month, you will meet with both members of your team to ensure a road to success. Your health educator will continue to guide and support you weekly. Your medical provider will follow your progress intermittently, but will always be available as needed.
We encourage you to meet with one primary educator as our studies show that the creation of routines, including weekly meetings with a consistent educator, can help build relationships and positively contribute to successful weight loss.
Why weekly sessions?
Numerous studies support our own experience: long-term weight loss success is greatest when supported by consistent and frequent visits. Weekly visits help you stay on track and accountable. In these meetings, we support your progress by fine-tuning your program and developing strategies to cope with your unique challenges. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions and raise any concerns as you educate yourself to keep the weight off for life.
Are appetite suppressants required in your program? How safe is it?
We believe that medications that suppress appetite can be a helpful tool and like all tools, have their place in an overall approach. Our medical providers will listen and tailor a treatment plan that works for you. If that plan includes an appetite suppressant, we will tailor dosages to your individual needs and monitor their safety and effectiveness through your weekly visits. The appetite suppressant most commonly prescribed is an FDA-approved medication with a fifty-year plus history of safety and efficacy. We dispense directly from our office and are included in the cost of the monthly fee.
Do you provide Vitamin B shots and what ingredients do they contain?
We include complimentary lipophilic vitamin B injections each week during your visit. These injections are not required, but may help with fat metabolism. The ingredients include several “B” vitamins (Inositol, Choline, and B12) in addition to Methionine, which is an essential amino acid. There is no mercury or other potentially harmful additives. These water soluble ingredients do not accumulate in your body.
We also offer supplemental vitamin B12 and B6 shots for an additional cost. These supplements compliment our weight loss program and are only offered to our weight loss clients.
Do you offer a maintenance program?
Yes. Maintenance is an important part of keeping the weight off. There are several studies that demonstrate the need for continued accountability for sustainable weight loss success. We offer several plans to keep you on track after seeing you each week.
Do you treat children?
We have treated teens between the age’s of 14-18, however, a certain level of self-motivation and maturity is required for a successful outcome. In addition, we want to ensure that both the teen and the parent are on board with the same goal. Our medical provider will arrange a time to speak to the parent and teen before accepting a teen into the program.
Do you offer HCG?
No. HCG protocols work only in conjunction with a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD), which consists of 500 calories. Our facility decided against the use of HCG since we felt a VLCD was not in line with our ultimate mission of advocating long-term healthy eating habits. Although a 500 calorie diet can lead to quick weight loss, it does not allow an individual to practice and establish eating habits for the sustainable future.
Do you accept insurance?
Clients have successfully utilized their health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending accounts (FSA) for our services. Some people with PPOs and company-directed health plans have been able to secure reimbursement. We encourage you speak with your HR or health plan representative. We can provide you with a letter of medical necessity and receipts to submit for reimbursement.
