Week One: Biggest Loser Contestant Updates

Our Biggest Loser contestants have made it through their first week on the GreenLite program. Find out who is in the lead and how each contestant did!

       Phat Mamas

Linda: I really enjoy the program, so far it has been easy to follow. Everybody who works here is so nice. It is really structured and that is what I need. I think my biggest challenge was on Friday when the no carbs (or very little carbs) kicked in and the cravings started. I was able to fight through it and the next day I was fine. My biggest challenge was actually surviving the first week. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I thought I would break sometime during the week and I didn’t. Yeah!

Amelia: I’m feeling really good overall. I’m more energized and I’ve been sleeping better. It’s challenging and very hard for me, but overall I feel happy. The hardest thing this week was figuring out meals and being prepared. I still haven’t learned to shop and to plan ahead, and it’s hard working my schedule around my four kids. It’s been hard getting on track, especially when I have cravings, but I’m not actually hungry. I worked through it by telling myself that it was just a craving and I wasn’t really hungry. My biggest achievement this week has been sticking to it, I didn’t go outside the points once. It was really hard, because I wasn’t prepared, but I stuck to it anyway.

        Hot Mommas

Donna: I love this program so far. The information is great and helpful. The staff is wonderful. The biggest challenge this week was finding the 0% fat items and some of the other items that help in weight loss. My biggest challenge this week was divorcing bread and pasta (maybe someday we can be friends again :) ).

Mari: At first, I wasn’t sure about how I would make it the first week, but today I feel good and “lite”, not bogged down. My biggest challenge this week was getting used to following the program and being able to cook for my family, and being able to plan and organize better. My biggest achievement this week was understanding the program and tools without using my handbook. It almost feels like I’ve been doing this longer than a week as it makes sense and its getting easier.

      Team Turtle

Jessica: I’m feeling good about the program and I’m happy about my progress. My biggest challenge this week was weighing my protein, My biggest achievement has been starting the program and losing weight!

Kevin: I feel awesome. Loosing the weight is allowing me to think about how I will feel if I lose more. My biggest challenge this week was consuming enough food to meet the diet requirements. Learning the portion sizes and dietary control is a learning experience. My biggest achievement this week was loosing the weight that I did. My goal for the following week is to equal or increase the weight loss.

Check back next week to find out how the first week went for the Biggest Losers!

Mother & Daughter Duo

Motivation: We have both been reflecting on how we want to lose weight to improve our health.  In the last year we became a family by adoption and we both have weight related medical issues. We need help! We want to enrich our lives by living healthier so we can enjoy our newly bond of mother and daughter.

Dutch Duo

Motivation: We are a mom and daughter team that has struggled with our weight all our lives. Being overweight has brought on several health issues: bad knees, depression, high blood pressure, and possibly had an influence of the onset of breast cancer several years ago. We are fighters, and want this to end!

Team Lego

Motivation: We NEED to lose the weight and we have the drive to do it. I have a 6 year old son and am getting married in this October. I want to look and feel good for my future wife. I WANT to be able to play with my son and not be sitting on the side lines anymore. Danny is also in a similar situation. We really do need this.

Team Reynolds

Motivation: Together, my Brother and I need to loose almost 300 pounds. We have always been overweight and we are ready to make a change. Erik has 2 children that he wants to be healthy to raise and I want to get healthy to start a family of my own.

Gray Haired Ones

Motivation: We quit smoking 5 years ago and put on weight and cannot seem to get it off. We drive school buses and work in accounting, both are very sedate occupations and by the time we get home at night, neither feels like working out. We both would like to be around to play with the Grand kids and enjoy our retirement.

Bay Area Cowgirls

Motivation: Sarah is a single mother whom just finished college and Barbara has recently returned to school for a certification in drug and alcohol counseling. We are trying to start an equestrian an agricultural education non profit program in the city of Oakland for k-12 kids as a healthy outlet and alternative to drugs and gangs. This competition would give us a jump in weight loss, which in return give us the motivation and energy to succeed.

Thin to Win

Motivation: Recently Steve was diagnosed with diabetes and my thyroid is out of whack. We both need to lose quite a bit of weight for health reasons. My doctor also told me if I don’t lose weight my knees would have to be operated on, which I am not happy about. Getting on a program like this is an incentive to try harder. I also want to compete in the Mud run for MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION in Hollister, so I need to get in shape. We just recently got married and I am horrified at the pictures of myself.

Voting has ended! Thank you to everyone who participated. The winners will soon be announced.

But with support and guidance, these habits can evolve into a lifestyle change.”…
